The Creativity World Forum 2017 is the largest conference on creativity and urban planning in Europe. A two-day experience of creativity held on the 1-2 November 2017 in Aarhus.
Keen On Mars facilitated a breakoutsession about how to cultivate and nurture creativity in people.
4 hours filled with creative input about and experiences in playful business & leadership, different awareness methods, creative communication, team building, rapid prototyping and not to forget - playing.
How can we cultivate and nurture creativity in people?
By staying curious, exploring and playing.
The workshop format was designed to be interactive, co-creative and explorative. Learning through experiencing.
The aim of the workshop was to introduce the participants in a co-creative way to different forms of creative communication they can use in their daily businesses.
We started the workshop with a short lecture about a playful approach to business and how to use play as a strong communication tool in teams.
SELF AWARENESS IN THE JOB
The working world is changing rapidly. It is important to involve the employees in this process of change and to make them aware of their valuable position to self increase their positive attitude towards their daily work and routine life.
A first step to a more fulfilled work is to create awareness of your own situation and playfulness at your own job. As an essential base for a later teamwork, the participants were guided through the awareness tool “Play Your Work”.
LET’S TALK PLAYFUL BUSINESS
Some of the participants took a playful stand to show their playfulness at work to the world. Nice and diverse infographics to spread the language of play.

The big group of 36 participants was divided into 6 smaller groups, each with the task to act and communicate like a start up during the time of the workshop.
We used the Team Knot method to engage the participants to interact playfully and to start a team communication in the following reflection phase.
PLAYFUL LUNCH – for playful minds.
To keep the participants in the state of an explorative mindset and to facilitate a fully memorable experience we prepared a lunch that invited to play, taste new tastes, be surprised and get their energy back for the following interactive part of the workshop.
We use simple design and qualitative good material to engage people to interact and experience.
The haptic and interactive part plays a crucial role in our workshops. Through the sense of touch the participants learn and explore their surroundings, through building a prototype they already think one step further through the process and test and iterate.

The physical workspace has a great impact on your creativity and productivity at work. Everybody has different needs when it comes to the point of learning.
The teams were asked to visualize their unique workspace that could cultivate and nurture the creativity and playfulness in their team.
Without limitations – just play.
Holding something in your hand while explaining a process or product can really simplify your communication.
Like a storyboard for your communication, the built prototype helps you to walk from one element to the other, explaining the ideas step by step.
